Poster Invitation Flow
Expand your posting circle by inviting family members to post photos, schedule reminders, and share messages on the smart display frame.
How Invitation Sharing Works
Adding new posters relies on a secure code registration mechanism. Instead of inputting credentials manually, admins send a secure link directly to a family member's phone.
Step-by-Step Flow Instructions
Tap Send Invite in Settings
From the settings screen of the companion app, tap the Send Invite row. This prompts the app to connect to Firestore and register a new pending invite record linked with your active Kiosk ID, generating a secure token.
Select Contact Recipient
The app opens the native iOS Share Sheet / Contact Selector. Type to search for your recipient (e.g., Grandpa Joe) and tap their name. The app automatically pulls their phone number to prefill the text message thread.
Send the SMS Invitation
Your phone opens the native Messages app, pre-populating the chat with a message and the unique invitation link: https://gv-prod-user-guide-2026.web.app/invite?code=GV-J82K9L. Tap **Send**. The Messages app automatically loads a rich link preview card.
Recipient Redeems the Invite
When the recipient taps the link on their mobile phone, they are taken to the GrandyVision Invitation Portal where they authenticate via phone number. Upon sign-in, the secure server validates the invitation token and appends their authenticated User ID to the Kiosk's allowedUsers list in Firestore, granting them posting privileges.
Recipient Flow: Posting the First Image
Once the recipient receives the invite link, they can complete setup and post their first photo in a few quick steps:
Authenticate & Pair
Tap the invitation link from the SMS. Log in using your phone number via secure OTP. The system automatically registers your account and adds you as an authorized **Poster** to the frame.
Access the Actions Menu
From the dashboard screen, tap the floating action button (FAB) at the bottom-right of the companion app to expand the shortcut menu.
Upload & Crop Your Photo
Tap Add Image, select a photo from your gallery or capture one with your camera. Position it inside the crop template (using pinch-to-zoom or drag-to-pan) and click **Next**.
Post to the Smart Frame
Add an optional caption for your grandparents, then tap **Upload**. The photo is uploaded to Firebase Storage and immediately appears in the frame's slideshow playlist!
